How does it feel now that you released the “Mind Reaper” album? What kind of reaction have you received from fans so far?
Releasing “Mind Reaper” feels like a huge release of pressure and energy at the same time. This album represents a turning point for Darklon, so finally sharing it with the world is incredibly satisfying. The reaction so far has been intense and very positive fans immediately connected with the power, the melodies, and the darker atmosphere of the album. We’re getting feedback that this is our strongest and most focused release to date, and that means everything to us.
What should new listeners expect when they press play on “Mind Reaper”?
They should expect a powerful, aggressive, and melodic journey. Mind Reaper is heavy, and emotional at the same time. There are strong riffs, big choruses, intense vocals, thunderous bass lines, heaviest drums than ever and a darker lyrical approach. It’s an album that demands attention from the first second and doesn’t let go until the end.
How did Billy Chrepas joining the band actually happen?
Billy joining Darklon happened very naturally. After the lineup change, we were looking for someone who wasn’t just technically strong, but who also had character, personality, and real passion. Billy was already familiar with the band, and once we started talking and exchanging ideas, everything clicked immediately. It felt right from the start.
Did Billy have a say on the new songs or did he find everything ready? Did the band’s sound change naturally once Billy came in? How much freedom did Billy have vocally on the new songs?
Μaterial was already in progress, but Billy definitely had a strong say in shaping the final result in vocals. Once he came in, the sound evolved naturally around his voice and energy. Vocally, he had a lot of freedom he experimented, pushed limits, and brought his own identity into the songs. That freedom helped the album reach its full potential and we feel grateful for that.
How has the chemistry inside the band changed with the new lineup?
The chemistry is stronger than ever. There’s renewed energy, motivation, and hunger. We are together twice a week for hours…Everyone is fully committed, and that shows in both the music and the way we work together. We feel like a solid unit again, moving forward with a clear vision.
Do you feel “Mind Reaper” represents a fresh start for Darklon?
Absolutely. “Mind Reaper” is a rebirth for Darklon. It’s not about forgetting the past, but about building on it with more confidence, maturity, and purpose. This album defines who we are now.
Was there any pressure making this album after the lineup change?
Of course, there was pressure but the good kind. We knew we had something to prove, both to ourselves and to the fans. Instead of holding us back, that pressure pushed us to work harder and raise the bar in every aspect.
How long did it take to write and record “Mind Reaper”? Who did the mixing and the mastering of the new album? Describe us the production process of “Mind Reaper”.
The writing and recording process took around a year. We worked patiently, refining every detail until everything felt right. The production was very hands-on we were deeply involved in every stage, from arrangements to final sound. The goal was clarity, power, and impact, without losing the raw metal spirit.
Musically, where would you trace the differences between “Mind Reaper” and “The Redeemer”?
“Mind Reaper” is darker, heavier, and more focused. The songwriting is tighter, the riffs more aggressive, and the atmosphere more intense. While “The Redeemer” was epic and melodic, “Mind Reaper” feels sharper and more direct its 100% Darklon!
Which bands influenced this new album the most?
Power/heavy metal bands from US area like Metal Church, Vicious Rumors, Oliver Magnum and more… bands who inspire us and we listen them full, those bands balance melody with aggression. We are inspired by bands that write powerful riffs, strong choruses, and songs that work both on record and on stage.
What comes first – music or lyrics? Do you write music thinking about playing it live?
Music always comes first. Once the music sets the mood, the lyrics follow naturally. We absolutely think about the live aspect while writing. energy, crowd interaction, and impact are very important to us.
How important are riffs when writing Darklon songs?
Riffs are the backbone of Darklon. Everything starts from a strong riff. If the riff doesn’t hit hard and feel powerful, the song doesn’t move forward.
Which song from the new album are you most excited to perform on stage?
There are several, “In The Abyss”, “Powercast” and more, but the title track “Mind Reaper” is definitely one we can’t wait to unleash live! It captures the essence of the album and is built for the stage.
Do you feel more confident now as a band?
Yes, more than ever. We know who we are, what we want, and where we’re going, and what show can we deliver. That confidence is reflected in our music and our attitude.
What does the title “Mind Reaper” mean to you?
“Mind Reaper” represents inner battles, control, fear, and strength. It’s about confronting what consumes your mind and either being destroyed by it or rising above it.
Do you feel Greek bands still need to “prove” themselves internationally?
As we see less than before. Greek bands have proven they can stand on equal ground with international acts. The quality is there, nothing to prove… and now it’s about exposure and persistence, meanwhile I think in Greek scene we are in our bests.
How different is Darklon anno 2026 compared to the early years?
We’re more mature, more focused, and more dangerous musically. The fire is still there, but now it’s controlled and sharper.
What are your plans for live shows and touring?
Our main focus is playing live as much as possible festivals, club shows, and we plan touring outside Greece. “Mind Reaper” is meant to be experienced on stage.
If “Mind Reaper” was a weapon, what kind would it be?
M2 Browning! Heavy, brutal, and impossible to ignore.
