SWORD TONGUE – “MURDER WHITE NOISE” (2025, SINGLE, SELF-RELEASED)

by MythofRock

Oakland alt-rock trio Sword Tongue release “Murder White Noise”, a striking and unsettling new single taken from their latest EP, “Bonfire In The Tempest”. It’s a song born from anxiety, and the strange ways modern life pushes us to look for comfort in dark places. Instead of avoiding the disturbing and tragic stories that surround us, Sword Tongue confronts them head-on and asks: why do we find relief in other people’s pain? The track begins gently, with smooth and soothing vocals from Jennifer Wilde. Her tone feels intimate and calming, almost like a whispered confession. But the lyrical content tells a very different story, describing how many of us now turn to true crime media to numb our own thoughts. It’s a bold and honest subject, and Wilde delivers it with vulnerability and clarity. Gaetano Maleki’s guitar lines carry a tense beauty. They sway between dreamy and ominous, always hinting that something dark is just beneath the surface. The bass and drums, handled with precision and depth, add a steady pulse that pulls the listener deeper into the mood. Dan Milligan’s production is sharp but warm, letting each element breathe while keeping the atmosphere thick and heavy. What makes “Murder White Noise” truly effective is the contrast: comfort in the sound, discomfort in the meaning. Dark, emotional and thoughtful, “Murder White Noise” proves that Sword Tongue are making music with message, weight and heart. It’s one of the most intriguing alternative rock tracks of the year.
