ELECTRO CHARGED – “REIGN OF DECEPTION” (2024, SELF-RELEASED)

by MythofRock

Within the intricate realm of heavy metal, where the reverberations of yesterday harmonize with the advancements of today, Electro Charged surfaces as the heavy/thrash metal project of Michael Sagiannis. This musical pursuit solidifies an impassioned affinity for the genre, whisking us away to the intoxicating era of the 80s and 90s, seamlessly weaving in a modern resonance into its sonic fabric. Sagiannis, with the assistance of renowned producer/musician Bob Katsionis, managed to put an order to the chaos of his riffs and melodic ideas and to release this debut album, with the contribution of Chris Dempegiotis (bass) and Thanos Karalis (drums). A magnum opus that goes by the name “Reign of Deception”, the album thrusts the listener into a maelstrom of aggressive, killer riffs, cataclysmic drumming, infectious grooves and memorable melodies that linger long after the last chord has faded. Electro Charged are inspired by the titans of the 80s and 90s thrash metal – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Testament, Kreator among others have left their mark on the Greek band, which tries to revive the golden era of thrash metal, putting its signature on the final product. Combine the thrash metal onslaught with the in-your-face vocals and the psychosocial themes of the lyrics and you will have a pretty good idea of what is going on in “Reign of Deception”. Michael Sagiannis’ first effort is absolutely successful, as he created something really interesting and exciting, in the context of thrash/heavy metal. With this album a new hope of the Greek thrash metal scene is rising – metal enthusiasts come closer and experience this formidable heavy metal force.
