Wooden Overcoat releases the second single, “Finally Arrived”, from their debut EP, “Hello Sunbeam”, and we get lost in a dreamy soundscape we didn’t even know could exist. Wooden Overcoat is a dream pop outfit from Portland, USA, and with this new song they lead us into a mysterious world of thoughts and melodies. The sonic brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Brant Hajek has created a hypnotic track, whose pulse and atmosphere manage to take us on a sensational voyage, where everything feels fluid and we seem to float toward blurry skies. The music and lyrics of “Finally Arrived” are the ticket to a different, otherworldly realm—just let the band guide you to a magical place, far away from your daily, dull routine. The basic ingredients of this amazing flight are the vocals, filled with beautiful harmonies, the subtle synths, which create an irresistible tapestry of sound, the viscous guitars, which speak through majestic chords and expressive solos, and of course the warm, gentle sound of the drums. Of course, Wooden Overcoat do not reinvent the dream pop subgenre, yet “Finally Arrived” is the product of a true compositional vision, created by an artist with the talent and imagination to give a fresh dimension to pop music. I personally feel overwhelmed by this song, which speaks to the mind and elevates us to new, higher levels of self-awareness. Wooden Overcoat creates art through simple pop music.
