THE GIRAFFES – “MILLION YEAR OLD SONG” (2024, SINGLE, SELF-RELEASED)

by MythofRock

Do you know The Giraffes? Well, they are a alternative heavy rock outfit, which was formed in Brooklyn in 1996 and continues to produce bad-ass rock n’ roll. Now they are releasing their brand new album, “Cigarette”, and “Million Year Old Song” is their new single. As it has been written, for years now the Giraffes have been creating a dirty, gritty, raw, sick and dangerous heavy rock soundscape. “Million Year Old Song” is a pretty nice example of the band’s scuzz-rock sound, which successfully mixes different music elements (mainly heavy rock, blues rock, heavy metal, stoner, punk), having a top-notch result. The guitar work by maestro Damien Paris is majestic – the main riff attracts the listener like a big magnet and the solo at the end of the song is overwhelming! However, there is another significant role in The Giraffes – that of vocalist Aaron Lazar, who spits the lyrics with confidence and gusto. The production is vintage as well as loud and clear and of course, the lyrics add to the macho/bad guy style of the song. The Giraffes release their long-awaited album and as a preview we have a great heavy rock track, which will brutally force you to stand up and head bang. All fans of Black Sabbath and Queens of the Stone Age come forth, hence this is music for you! It’s high time you listened to this million-year-old song!
