R.I.P., CHRIS KARRER (1947-2024)

by MythofRock

Legendary kraut rock musician Chris Karrer (Amon Duul, Amon Duul II, Embryo, solo) passed away at the age of 76.

On January 20, 1947, the world welcomed Christoph Karrer, a German guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist renowned for his versatile skills on the oud, saxophone, and violin. Born in Kempten, Germany, Karrer left an indelible mark on the music scene as a co-founder of the Amon Düül commune and a pivotal member of the more commercially successful Amon Düül II. His collaborative endeavors extended to notable projects such as Embryo.

Tragically, on January 2, 2024, the music world bid farewell to Christoph Karrer as he died. His contributions to the realms of experimental and progressive rock, as well as his influential role within communal musical initiatives, solidify his legacy as a luminary in the annals of music history.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Karrer …
