PEARL JAM‘s twelfth studio album, titled “Dark Matter”, is set for release on April 19, 2024, through Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records. Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Andrew Watt, this album marks the band’s return following their 2020 release, “Gigaton”.
In 2023, PEARL JAM convened at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu under Watt’s guidance, embarking on a creative journey that resulted in “Dark Matter”. Recorded in a whirlwind three-week period, the album captures the essence of a group of long-time collaborators and friends, united in musical expression.
The album’s visual aesthetic is equally captivating, featuring light painting art by Alexandr Gnezdilov. The cover art, created using a large self-made kaleidoscope, presents a unique pearlescent effect. Each letter on the cover was meticulously captured midair with a specially designed flashlight, adding to the album’s distinct visual allure.
PEARL JAM is also honoring independent record stores with a special edition release of “Dark Matter” on April 20, available exclusively at participating stores as part of Record Store Day. For further details and store locations, visit www.recordstoreday.com.
PEARL JAM reportedly held a listening party for “Dark Matter” in late January at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, during which frontman Eddie Vedder told those in attendance that he considered the LP to be “our best work”.
