Interview with MEDUSA’S WRATH

by MythofRock

Medusa’s Wrath stands as a shining example of a metal band that combines relentless hard work with undeniable talent to achieve progress. Following the release of their powerful debut album and an impressive string of live performances, the band continues to build momentum and set the stage for even greater things to come. With their upcoming appearance at Angels Summer Fest Vol. 1 at Temple just around the corner, Myth of Rock caught up with bassist Kristina for an insightful conversation.

by Dimitris Zacharopoulos

When, where, by whom and under which circumstances was Medusa’s Wrath formed?

The band has existed since 2015 with different names and members. One night while out, Petros suddenly came and said to me: “Welcome to the band …. That was it …. That’s how it started but it has gone through many stages of change, so as Medusa’s Wrath we have officially existed since the summer of 2019 with founding members Petros and me.

Why did you decide to name the band Medusa’s Wrath?

I am a fan of Greek mythology and I also have a huge love for reptiles, so the name came naturally to me as it combines both of the things I mentioned above.

How would you describe your music style?

It is pure heavy metal reminiscent of the 80’s era.

Which are your main music influences?

We have many influences but our main ones are Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Saxon.

Which do you think are the trademarks of Medusa’s Wrath?

I leave it to the judgment of the fans.

Some months ago, you released your debut album, “Pavor Exitium Mors”. Which are

your feelings now for this album? Would you change something to it now?

We are excited, happy but also very grounded, filled with a sense of responsibility to continue with the same passion and love to walk the path we have carved out. No, we wouldn’t change anything.

Where was the album recorded? Who did the production, the mixing and the

mastering?

It all happened in Dark Water Audio by Stathis Pavlantis.

Where do your lyrics refer to?

With everything we feel that concerns us. For the fear of death and the attempt to find courage to overcome fear with bravery. The suffering, the despair, the isolation that each of us experiences, for the terror and panic that prevails, the lack of logical thinking, the propaganda, the lies and the hope that in the end logic will prevail and we will all unite together like a fist, as well as for the need for inner peace and tranquility to expel the demons and ghosts of ourselves that haunt us.

Who is the one who composes the music and writes the lyrics in Medusa’s Wrath? How

is a typical Medusa’s Wrath song composed?

Whoever has an idea (usually Petros) records it on video and send it to the band’s chatroom, we each study it individually and then jam and compose in the studio. I mostly write the lyrics, but others also participate in some of our songs.

You released a music video for the song “Annabelle”. Why did you choose this song for

the video? Give us all the info about this music video.

We believe that due to the theatricality offered by the track and the live performances, it was the best choice to create the video clip. We had a fantastic and unforgettable time. Elias Michailakis and his team are excellent and we always have unimaginable fun when we collaborate. Konstantina Kontou, who plays Annabelle, is also amazing and wonderful and we are glad that she was with us in the video clip as well as in our live performances.

Which are your ambitions for Medusa’s Wrath?

The truth is that we haven’t discussed it with the guys, so you’re catching me off guard. What’s certain is that we will modestly and humbly continue to do what we started.

If you could record a Medusa’s Wrath song with a favorite musician of yours, whom

would you choose?

Sakis Tolis.

How do you see things for metal music in Greece?

In general, Greek metal music has risen to a tremendous level.

What do you think about the use of AI in music?

I don’t even like the word AI when we’re talking about art, of which music is a part.

The cover of “Pavor Exitium Mors” is full of snakes! Why is that?

Medusa’s head was covered in snakes, so it makes sense that it would be full of them, and as I said above, we love reptiles.

You play live frequently. How much important are live shows for you?

It gives us strength and vitality and drive to continue what we started. Communicating with the fans and being able to share the same concerns through our songs is the most important part for us.

You are going to play in Angels Summer Fest in a few days. How do you feel about that?

What should we expect from you?

It will definitely be a very strong live show which we are looking forward to. We are quite unpredictable so I don’t know what you should expect (laughs)

Have you written any new songs? If yes, how do they sound? When should we expect

your next release?

Yes, we have almost completed the compositions for our second full length album and after this summer we will start recording. We want to believe that by early 2026 it will be complete and available on all digital platforms but also in physical form. It will be heavier but will not lose the musical identity of Medusa’s Wrath.
