HALFPACE – “PRETTY TOUGH” (2024)

by MythofRock

The Greek heavy rock scene should be proud of its children—and one of them is Halfpace, a heavy/stoner rock band with a few alternative rock elements, now stepping into the spotlight with their debut album, “Pretty Tough”. I have experienced the band live many times; I knew their energy and emotion, yet this first album of theirs strikes my ears like thunder. Halfpace present nine compositions, all built upon heavy riffs, addictive melodies, and a heavyweight rhythm section. Add to that their unparalleled passion and the flawless production, and you’ll get the full picture of this fine record! “Pretty Tough” is full of monster grooves, hooky vocal lines, and sharp guitars that guarantee the listener’s euphoria. What you hear in “Pretty Tough” is pure, fresh, unpretentious, no-nonsense heavy rock that will blow your mind. It is remarkable how mature the songs sound—especially considering that we are talking about a quartet of youngsters who play the music they love. Halfpace know well the characteristics of their genre and push it to the limit. As a debut, “Pretty Tough” is a phenomenally good album. Without a doubt, Halfpace are capable of great things in the coming years. Now that the spark has been ignited, I believe that the future belongs to Aias (guitars, vocals) and his company. This first album from Halfpace is a must-have for all heavy rock aficionados!
