FOR MY PAIN … – “BURIED BLUE” (2026, RAINHEART)

by MythofRock

Friends of Finnish melodic gothic metal, pay attention! In recent years, we haven’t exactly been satisfied with strong album releases in the genre, which often makes us nostalgic for earlier times, when bands like HIM, The 69 Eyes, Nightwish and others were at their peak. However, a band from those golden days — one that made a big impact with its debut album “Fallen” back in 2003 — is now returning to the scene. We’re talking about For My Pain…, who are back with their second full-length album, “Buried Blue”, ready to make many melodic/gothic metal hearts beat fast once again. Essentially, For My Pain… are a supergroup, as their members have been involved in numerous other bands, both well-known and lesser-known. Following the “Killing Romance” EP in 2004, the Finns are once again making their presence felt with a very strong album, mixed by the one and only Mikko Karmila at the legendary Finnvox Studios. “Buried Blue” is bound to stir up all devotees of the Finnish sound, as it is packed with beautiful, excellently orchestrated, carefully crafted, passionate and deeply inspired songs of melodic gothic metal. This is a journey into the past, firmly focusing on the present and looking toward the future: the new For My Pain… album clearly recalls the early 2000s, yet features a modern sound and aesthetic, giving the genre a powerful push forward. Those who are drawn to intense melodies, sweet guitar riffs and deep, low-pitched vocals should absolutely listen to this mesmerizing album in full — a truly captivating work. For My Pain… do what they know best: impressing us with catchy compositions rooted in the Finnish school, cleverly blending metal heaviness with romantic gothic melodies. It feels as if not a single day has passed since the band’s previous release back in 2004! All fans of gothic and melodic metal should give For My Pain… a listen — their resurrection can only bring smiles to the rock and metal community. Notably, the Nightwish-inspired track “Windows Are Weeping” features a guest appearance by Troy Donockley (Uilleann pipes and flutes, Nightwish)!
