ACASTE – “HOME” (2024, EP)

by MythofRock

Acaste rose from the ashes of Sleepin Pillow and introduced themselves with this debut EP, titled “Home”. The Greek quartet excels at its alternative metal style, being influenced by bands like Lacuna Coil, Sentenced, Elysion, The Gathering, etc. The EP contains four songs that sound beautiful and showcase the band’s talent and prowess. Acaste has many advantages that may help the band stand out from the rest. First of all, they are highly experienced, and you can tell that by their groove and their cohesive rhythm section. Besides that, the band has Mora Hecate on vocals, who sings powerfully and passionately. And, of course, they know how to compose fresh songs full of melodic hooks. If the band works on these elements, they will evolve and become stars of the female-fronted genre. Let’s see the songs of the EP one by one: “Irrational Show” is an instant hit, “Leap of Faith” has very memorable vocal lines, “The Last Day of Your Life” features wild guitars that stay in your mind, and “When?” has a strange and beautiful finesse! To sum up, I have to admit that I liked Home very much and believe that Acaste will deliver incredible things in the future. Yes, they have to focus even more on their personal elements, but I am sure they will come back with their own characteristic style. Till then, this EP will be on repeat!
