The Pretty Reckless has unveiled “Dear God”, the title track from the band’s upcoming fifth studio album, which is set for release on June 26 through Fearless Records.
On “Dear God,” The Pretty Reckless embraces a haunting, emotionally charged atmosphere, driven by the powerful vocals of frontwoman Taylor Momsen as she delivers the chorus plea: “Dear God, can you lift me up, can you take me higher / Dear God, can you lift me up, keep me from a fire.” The track gradually intensifies before erupting into a soaring guitar solo, allowing the instrumentation to fully flourish while reinforcing both the song’s and the album’s central themes of longing to rise above darkness and reach something greater.
Taylor says: “‘Dear God’ is desperation set to music. When life gets that physical, that brutal, you leave your body and start begging something bigger than yourself to pull you out. That space between heaven and hell isn’t a metaphor. It’s somewhere you actually live.”
