The Darkness have unveiled “Masters Of The Universe”, the official theme song for this year’s highly anticipated “Masters of the Universe”, which premiered earlier this week at the TCL Chinese Theatre.
The track was penned by frontman Justin Hawkins alongside his brother, guitarist Dan Hawkins, who also handled production and mixing duties. They collaborated with acclaimed composer Daniel Pemberton — known for his work on “Project Hail Mary”, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”, “Enola Holmes” and “Steve Jobs” — who also composed the movie’s official score.
THE DARKNESS said: “When He-Man asked whether we could provide some music for his forthcoming biopic ‘Masters Of The Universe’, we dusted off our trusty loincloths, assembled in the courtyard of Castle Darkness and bellowed in unison WE HAVE THE POWER. Also, Brian May was there.”
“Masters Of The Universe” is now available for streaming and download across all major digital music platforms.
Last week, Lakeshore Records unveiled the first track from the “Masters of the Universe” soundtrack, “Eternia,” featuring Brian May of Queen. The complete soundtrack album is scheduled for release on June 5.
The live-action “Masters of the Universe”, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios and based on the iconic franchise, is set to hit U.S. theaters on June 5, 2026, through Amazon MGM Studios, with an international rollout scheduled for later that month via Sony Pictures International Releasing.
In “Masters of the Universe”, director Travis Knight brings the legendary franchise back to the big screen in an epic live-action adventure. After 15 years apart, the Sword of Power guides Prince Adam, played by Nicholas Galitzine, back to Eternia, only to find his homeland in ruins under the sinister rule of Skeletor, portrayed by Jared Leto.
To save both his family and his world, Adam must unite with his closest allies — Teela, played by Camila Mendes, and Duncan/Man-At-Arms, portrayed by Idris Elba — while fully embracing his destiny as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.
The Darkness are also set to support Iron Maiden at the band’s massive Knebworth concert show this July, while preparing to release their upcoming best-of collection, “Crock Of Hits,” in October.
