Italian gothic/doom metallers The Foreshadowing have returned with their long-awaited album, titled “New Wave Order”. It’s clear that the band has carved out a unique path for themselves in the doom metal scene. As a huge fan of My Dying Bride, discovering The Foreshadowing was a pleasant surprise, as their sound, while bearing some resemblance to the British doom giants, stands apart with its own identity. You can certainly hear the influence of classic doom, but the band’s approach feels fresh. One standout aspect of their sound is Marco Benevento’s vocals. His haunting, melancholic voice adds a deeply emotional layer to the music. Tracks like “Eyes of a Dawn” and “Heraclitus” are perfect examples of his ability to convey deep sorrow, with a voice so powerful it’s hard to forget. What truly makes The Foreshadowing unique and different, though, is their ability to evoke such a wide range of emotions throughout their albums. From the crushing heaviness to the melancholic beauty, their music takes you on a rollercoaster of feelings. This emotional depth is rare and something that I truly admire in their work. “New Wave Order” is a proof of their talent and growth, proving that The Foreshadowing isn’t just a band to listen to but an experience that stays with you. Their ability to blend gothic doom with their own style makes this album well worth a listen for any fan of the genre.
