“Dysphonia” is the sophomore album of Chrysa Tsaltampasi’s solo project Spineless, and on the 14th of November she celebrated this new release with a special live show at Temple, in Athens, Greece. Her friends and fans had taken their place at the venue, waiting eagerly for this live presentation. Myth of Rock was there too, and right below you can read what happened that night.

The evening began with a special guest, Emi Path. Emi appeared on stage humbly and quietly, just like her other two band mates (on drums and on keyboards). She commenced her set, she created an evocative atmosphere and took us on a magical journey, far away, beyond this world. Her sonic realm, which was somewhere between electronic music, dark wave/gothic and pop, seemed like the soundtrack of a mysterious movie, the sound of nature in the night, the sound of thoughts and dreams. It was the best prologue for the live show of Spineless!
The time for Chrysa Tsaltampasi had come. Without losing any time, Spineless took center stage, under the praise of the people, who came to Temple – if you take into consideration that it was a working day, the attendance was satisfactory. Chrysa, accompanied by two other musicians, began with the presentation of the “Dysphonia” album, which she played in its entirety. Her performance was incredible, she sang excellently in various vocal styles, having the perfect result, giving her everything, so passionate and devoted to her art. We all enjoyed her great singing talent, she was superb in both clean and brutal vocals and showed us all her charisma – she is a vocal coach and that was obvious! Chrysa spoke to us in-between the songs – anyone could see that she was in a very good mood, she made jokes and was smiling all the time! This positive energy passed to the attendants, who were overwhelmed by the majesty of Spineless and the “Dysphonia” album. We experienced the whole record and were mesmerized by Spineless’ awe-inspiring cinematic, experimental post/alt metal style! I had listened to the album, but only after this release live show, I totally understood how precious this music opus is. In some songs Chrysa played keyboards, at some point she took the electric guitar, accompanying wonderfully guitarist Dennis Morfis, and also called Maxi Nil and Sofia Sarri on stage to sing with her. When the whole album presentation came to an end, Spineless performed songs from their debut (“Speaking of Chaos and Relative Peace”, 2018) and closed the night masterfully! Spineless lit up our evening with this ambient, avant-garde, industrial music manifest.
Spineless’ set was absolutely stellar; the whole show was a phenomenal transcendence to another, dreamy, atmospheric dimension. I wasn’t a fan of Spineless, but I became one – I am sure many of the people, who witnessed this experimental miracle, will feel the same with me! We thank Chrysa for giving this breathtaking sonic recital!
