Soothe come from Athens and have just released their debut EP, titled “Is This Soothe Enough?”. What’s exciting about Soothe is that they play in a style few Greek bands have explored. We’re talking about nu metalcore/deathcore, where the classic metalcore/deathcore sound is infused with a nu metal vibe. Soothe’s nu metal approach naturally includes plenty of industrial and electronic elements, so ultimately, their music is a mix reminiscent of Slipknot, Fear Factory, Soulfly, Korn, Lamb of God, and other major acts. What really makes Soothe stand out, however, is their compositional skill, tight performance, and rich emotional expression. The EP presents five tracks of relatively short length, yet each is packed with strong ideas, killer riffs, infectious grooves, and relentless vocals spanning death, black, and clean styles. They’ve clearly put in a lot of effort to sound this polished, and they deserve praise for delivering something solid, cohesive, and powerful. Beyond that, the band demonstrates knowledge and passion, technique and soul, with notes that are both elusive and drenched in emotion. As such, “Is This Soothe Enough?” will impress any fan of extreme music and leave many necks sore from relentless headbanging! If this EP is just a taste of their upcoming full-length album, it’s clear that Soothe are preparing a record of major impact. Words fall short in describing the passion and intensity of this EP. I’m confident that the best is yet to come — both for Soothe and for us, already thrilled to welcome this promising and rightly ambitious band!
