SICKY – “SLIDE” (2025, SINGLE, SELF-RELEASED)

by MythofRock

SICKY is about to release his highly anticipated new full-length album, “Troubled Delight”, and as a preview, we’re treated to his new beautiful single, “Slide”. This new song is a perfect example of SICKY’s weird alternative pop art and has all the ingredients we love in SICKY – poppy melodies, minimalism, positive energy and a poignant vocal delivery. From the very first notes, “Slide” captures your attention and sticks to your brain with its catchy vocal melodies. The inclusion of Jen Bone’s double bass adds a vintage texture that sets the song apart, while the percussion creates an irresistible groove and the guitar chords give depth. “Slide” is a playful track, which lasts just over two minutes and is reminiscent of early Blur and Beck. Its deliberate arrangement, the sophisticated production and its funny feeling will make you love this song. It doesn’t only preview the upcoming album “Troubled Delight”, but also sets the stage for what promises to be an emotionally rich and sonically diverse body of work. Personally I cannot resist these melodic Britpop sensibilities and indie rock grit – “Slide” balances between those two different poles and counts as a victory of fine indie pop art!
