SICKY – “I’M HAPPY IF YOU’RE HAPPY” (2024, SINGLE, SELF-RELEASED)

by MythofRock

SICKY, the solo project of Mick Butler, is ready to release its new, third album, “Troubled Delight”, and we have the song “I’m Happy If You’re Happy” in our playlist as a preview. This teaser song is a… happy song, which, in the beginning, you may find indifferent or like a childish tune; however, each time you listen to it, you will discover more things in it! In less than three minutes, Butler delivers a vocal recital, singing with passion and devotion, being theatrical, and pushing his voice to the limits. The percussion is cleverly planned and performed, while the double bass is exactly what this song needs! Bringing to mind acts like Beck and Blur, this organic, melodic, gleeful song will make you smile, stomp your feet, and dance, and its lyrics will make you think about seduction and temptation. “I’m Happy If You’re Happy” successfully places SICKY somewhere between indie rock and Britpop and will please every listener, both the long-time fans and those who will be tempted by the song’s beat and melody! “Troubled Delight” seems to be a very interesting, tuneful record, brilliantly crafted by the genius of Mick Butler. I am already looking forward to this new album!
