ROYALE LYNN: NEW ALBUM RELEASED, NEW SONG ONLINE

by MythofRock

Nashville rocker Royale Lynn has unveiled her debut full-length album, “Black Magic”, out now via Epitaph Records. A release that resists simple classification, the album showcases the self-described “metalhead from a small town” skillfully merging two seemingly contrasting musical realms, affirming her ability to blur genre lines with confidence and authenticity.

With “Black Magic”, Royale Lynn delivers a raw and unflinching exploration of her personal battles with mental health, all framed within a narrative shaped by her deep-rooted fascination with horror, mythology, and fantasy. Inspired by the legend of Pandora’s Box, each track on the album symbolizes a specific “evil” that was unleashed upon humanity. Lynn set the tone with the crushing riffs of “Greed,” followed by the emotionally charged “E.V.I.L.,” guiding listeners through a powerful, personal, and deliberately crafted journey—both lyrically and sonically.

Royale Lynn unleashes the rebellious focus track “WTCH,” where her angelic vocals slice through a backdrop of thunderous instrumentation and gritty industrial production. With a fiercely infectious hook, she boldly calls out her enemies, leading to a climactic breakdown that features her first-ever recorded screams. The track is paired with a sultry, spellbinding visual, showcasing Lynn as a darkly enchanting figure—part witch, part video vixen—commanding a legion of lost souls in a hypnotic industrial rave setting.

“I love the lore of magic and things that we can’t see with our own eyes, so I thought ‘WTCH’ fit perfectly into the album concept,” she explains. “There are people out there who think I sold my soul, and with this song I’m telling them, “Maybe you just don’t understand the art and that’s okay.” It’s okay to be different.”

From her humble beginnings in a small town to joining the ranks of the Epitaph Records roster, Royale Lynn has been carving out her own lane with a nostalgic alt-metal and hard rock–infused sound that’s struck a chord with fans worldwide—amassing over one million followers across social media and more than 76 million global streams.

Over the past year, she has offered glimpses into “Black Magic” with a series of hard-hitting singles. Among them is “Death Wish” featuring Danny Worsnop of ASKING ALEXANDRIA, a tribute to first responders that climbed to No. 27 on the rock radio charts. Never one to shy away from difficult themes, Lynn confronts emotional trauma in “Battleground,” a raw portrayal of escaping a toxic relationship and finding strength through survival. Meanwhile, the haunting video for “Sacrifice” offers a visceral depiction of the darkness that often shadows mental illness.

“Every song on ‘Black Magic’ is about mental health; I want to tell my stories in hopes that it might help others,” Royale explains. “I think that music saves lives. Growing up, I struggled with managing my mental health, and I know some of my best friends struggled, too. I think this music gives us a safe space where we can be honest with ourselves. I wanted to show the community that they aren’t alone.”
