This is a once-in-a-lifetime metal event that combines nostalgia, history and modern power metal excellence into one explosive night …

Heaven’s Gate

If you were into heavy metal during the late ’80s and ’90s, the name Heaven’s Gate probably brings back a flood of memories. Formed in 1987 in Germany, this band quickly climbed to the top of the European metal scene. They were pioneers of a sound that combined power, melody and technical brilliance.

Heaven’s Gate released a series of albums that have since become cult classics: “In Control” (1989) – a powerful debut that introduced their blend of speed metal and melodic metal, “Livin’ in Hysteria” (1991) – the fan-favorite, considered one of the greatest power metal albums of all time, full of anthems, hooks and fiery guitar work, “Hell for Sale!” (1992) – a concept album that showcased their creativity and ability to mix humor with metal fury and “Planet E.” (1996) – a futuristic, progressive approach that proved they could evolve without losing their identity. These albums defined the golden era of German power metal. The music of Heaven’s Gate inspired countless bands that came after, and their influence is still felt today.

Heaven’s Gate broke up in the late ’90s, and since then, fans all over the world have been begging for a reunion. For more than 25 years, the answer was always no. The members moved on to different projects, and life carried on. That’s why the abovementioned announcement has caused such a storm in the metal community. This is the first and only time in decades that Heaven’s Gate will hit the stage again. And it’s happening in Greece—at Rock Hard Festival.

The lineup will include original members: Sascha Paeth – guitar wizard and producer extraordinaire, Bonny Bilski – guitarist and one of the creative forces of the band, Thorsten Müller – the powerhouse behind the drums and Robert Hunecke – bass player, also known for his work with Avantasia and other big acts. For long-time fans, this is a dream come true. For younger metalheads, it’s a chance to witness history—songs that have only lived on records will finally come alive on stage. Original vocalist Thomas Rettke will not be part of this reunion, but don’t worry—the band has found the perfect solution. Two incredible voices will share vocal duties: Adrienne Cowen – The rising star from Seven Spires and a key voice in Avantasia. Adrienne has an incredible vocal range and can switch from soaring melodies to brutal growls in an instant. And Herbie Langhans – a powerhouse singer best known for his work with Firewind and Avantasia. His strong, gritty voice will bring an extra punch to those Heaven’s Gate classics. Together, Adrienne and Herbie will deliver a performance worthy of the Heavens Gate legacy.

If you’ve been following the European metal scene, you know the name Sascha Paeth. He’s a legendary producer and guitarist, having worked with countless bands including Avantasia, Kamelot, Rhapsody, and many more. But in 2019, Sascha decided to step into the spotlight with his own band: Masters of Ceremony.

Masters of Ceremony

After decades of producing and shaping the sound of others, Sascha wanted to create something that truly reflected his vision of modern power metal. Masters of Ceremony was born as a supergroup, featuring world-class musicians and a fresh, heavy, and melodic sound.

Their debut album, “Signs of Wings” (2019), was a big success in the metal community. The record combined modern production with classic metal roots, heavy riffs and technical solos (courtesy of Sascha himself), huge choruses and symphonic elements and the stunning vocals of Adrienne Cowen, who quickly became the band’s frontwoman and a rising star in metal. Adrienne’s performance on the album turned heads everywhere. She showed versatility, singing clean, soaring melodies one moment and delivering ferocious growls the next. This duality gave Masters of Ceremony a unique edge.

Masters of Ceremony is not just another power metal band. Their music blends progressive, symphonic and modern elements without losing the soul of classic metal. They are the future of the genre—bold, fresh, full of energy. And now, for the first time ever, they are coming to Greece to perform live. Fans will get to hear tracks from their debut album, and maybe even some surprises.

Heaven’s Gate and Masters of Ceremony

The link between Heaven’s Gate and Masters of Ceremony is, of course, Sascha Paeth. His career is the perfect bridge between the past and the present of power metal. In the late ’80s and ’90s, Sascha helped shape the sound of Heaven’s Gate, contributing to albums that are still considered classics today. After Heaven’s Gate ended, he became one of the most important producers in the metal world, working with Avantasia and countless other projects. Today, he leads Masters of Ceremony, proving that his creativity and passion for metal are as strong as ever.

This Rock Hard Festival Greece performance is a celebration of his legacy—from the early days of German power metal to the new era he’s building now.

In general, Rock Hard Festival has a reputation for bringing something special to the table every year. But this announcement. Of Rock Hard Festival Greece, takes things to a whole new level. Fans will get the only reunion of Heaven’s Gate in over 25 years, the first-ever Greek show of Masters of Ceremony, Adrienne Cowen and Herbie Langhans performing together. It’s an event that every true metal fan will remember for the rest of their life!

If you grew up listening to “Livin’ in Hysteria” or “Hell for Sale!”, this is your moment. If you discovered metal through Avantasia and want to see the creative force behind it in action, this is your moment too. One night. One stage. Two incredible bands. History in the making. Mark your calendars. Get your tickets. And prepare for a night of pure metal magic. Because once the lights go down and the first riffs hit, you’ll know you’re witnessing something that may never happen again.
