Lemmy passed away, but his legacy is enormous and his long-time colleagues carry on. Phil Campbell took the pain and made something special out of it, forming a new band, which is now releasing its debut album. Phil Campbell and The Bastard Sons aren’t here to replace Motörhead, but to celebrate the glory of Motörhead. Hence, Campbell is continuing what he had been doing in the recent past and offers us what he knows best: he plays again rock n’ roll and his version of rock n’ roll is dirty, mean, dangerous. He gives us what we need and satisfies our addiction. “The Age of Absurdity” sounds exactly like Motörhead, it has Lemmy’s spirit and music attitude. Campbell’s riffs and solos stem from classics like “Bomber”, “Overkill” and “Orgasmatron”, the rhythm section is thunderous and the vocals smell whiskey and smoke. All the songs are based on great music ideas and have the right feeling, without being old-fashioned. Every fan of Motörhead-ish rock n’ roll will be amazed by this album. I am sure that Lemmy will be proud of Phil and his bastard sons!
