It might be their first record for Swedish power metallers Majestica, but their founder, Tommy Johansson, has been the brain of ReinXeed, which started out as a project band playing power metal but ended up being a regular 6-disc band. So, in 2019 ReinXeed baptized Majestica, who again play power metal and offer us “Above The Sky”. When I first heard the album, I said “OK, these guys are caricatures of Helloween, Stratovarius, Gamma Ray and the whole european power metal scene”. But after some more times, I realized that the truth is somewhere in the middle. They play good music with interesting compositions based on their classic euro-power metal, and also cinematographic musical backgrounds and influences, while respecting those who inspired them. What struck me, apart from the hymnic melodies, is their technique (perfect vocals, amazing performances and a great Uli Kusch on drums), which, combined with the perfect job on the production, results into a majestic and epic piece of power metal art! I liked also the humouristic touch in the lyrics. Without any doubt, it is a record of ten songs that will keep you entertained by listening to all those elements that have made you love power metal. On the other hand, you know what you are going to listen to from the first few seconds of the disc. If you seek something 100% original, just keep on searching. However, Majestica are here for the ones who like melodies and symphonic dimensions in heavy metal music. My favorite moments of the album? “The Rat Pack”, “Night Call Girl” and “Future Land”.
