Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham was reportedly attacked in Santa Monica, according to the police.
As reported by NBC Investigates, the incident occurred when the 76-year-old musician arrived for an appointment. An assailant allegedly threw an unknown substance at him before fleeing the scene.
The Los Angeles Police Department has identified the suspect—a woman previously known to Buckingham—and an arrest is expected.
Buckingjam was not injured in the attack.
Late last month, Lindsey Buckingham suggested that a renewed collaboration with his former partner Stevie Nicks could be on the horizon. The duo’s 1973 album “Buckingham Nicks” was finally reissued in 2025 after years out of circulation, accompanied by a coordinated social media campaign to mark the occasion.
“Just the energy around what Buckingham Nicks was able to do — creating a renewed connection between Stevie and myself on a broader level — feels like something that’s in the air,” Buckingham said. “I think 2026 is going to be a very interesting year, and despite everything happening in Washington, I believe it’s going to be a very good one.”
Back in October, Buckingham and Nicks also appeared on the Song Exploder podcast, where they discussed the album and the making of its best-known track, “Frozen Love”.
“This was a pretty, like, not really hateful song, but it’s a little bit mean,” said Nicks. “That’s what I said about great tragedies. They’re not always nice. Our relationship was up and down and up and down and up and down and difficult. But at the same time, fantastic. And what we were doing was so fantastic that it was worth putting up with the trials and tribulations of a relationship that’s difficult”.
