Induction made a fantastic power metal beginning with “Induction” and “Born From Fire”. In 2024 the band underwent a major line-up change, since Gabriele Gozzi came to the band, and now they are releasing their new album, “Love Kills!”. If their first two albums were euro power metal masterpieces, this one is a bit disappointing. Induction haven’t lost their talent, skills and grandeur, but they have made a rather weird change – they try to sound like Beast In Black, Battle Beast, etc.! They have adopted a solely melodic metal character, leaving behind their power metal style. Tim Kanoa Hansen and company aren’t anymore the euro power force they used to be, but just another one melodic metal band. Listening to their first efforts, I thought that Induction would evolve to the new Helloween and Gamma Ray – forget that, they have left this field and are now a band of the long, overcrowded melodic metal category. They have written again some nice songs, their guitar work is incredible, and the good news stops here. The band from Hamburg is a follower instead of being a keeper of the German power metal legacy. That’s a pity, since Induction were a highly promising newcomer band, one of our power metal hopes. “Love Kills!” ends with a cover of Gamma Ray’s “Empress” and that’s the best track on the album. Well, if a cover is your best song in an album, you understand that this album is simply … indifferent. Induction has lost their vision and direction. A completely different band, with a mediocre new album.
