Ecce Shnak is a weird case of a band, for sure not the band next door. They say they play art rock; however, it is safer to say that they belong to the alternative/indie rock scene, having an art rock mentality/process. “Prayer On Love” is the first track of their upcoming EP, “Shadows Grow Fangs”, which will be out in February. And if we judge from it, then it will be a very interesting release! Because “Prayer On Love” is a haunting song, with a catchy melody and a groovy rhythm. It is based on the snare drums, the thick bass, and the blurry guitars, which all create a hypnotizing corpus, where the warm, sophisticated voice of the composer and multi-instrumentalist David Roush grows and evolves—just like the whole song, which tells a story and piques our interest from the first to the last second of it. The irresistible finesse of the song gives it an art rock touch, which, together with the indie rock style, gives the song a special, unique character. We should also pay attention to the lyrics of “Prayer On Love,” since, according to Roush, these lyrics are a meditation on the nature of love and its diverse manifestations. We have meanings here—a song that delivers both musically and lyrically. Don’t expect razzle-dazzle in this song, but true, deep content, intriguing and mesmerizing. The music collective of Ecce Shnak is making art silently, modestly, and seriously. Are you patient enough to let this song speak to you?
