Ecce Shnak are a band that completely ignores genres, labels, tight definitions and clichés. Within that wide-open mindset, the New York-based group delivers yet another single, titled “Katy’s Wart” — a strange, unconventional track that will pin you to the wall. So, what’s going on here? A groove-driven metal song, technical and sharp, packed with cutting guitar riffs, vocals that feel totally out of this world, and a breakdown that fires the listener up instantly. With “Katy’s Wart”, Ecce Shnak surprise you, catch you off guard, and ultimately score yet another artistic victory. Honestly, I expected many things from Ecce Shnak — but not a pure groove metal single. Then again, this band operates on a different level. They feel like they’re from another planet and they’re never afraid to play whatever they feel like. Ecce Shnak have no sacred rules, they tear down expectations and pull in open-minded listeners who truly understand the essence of this avant-garde outfit. Metal fans in particular will lose their minds over this new track — though, as always, real Ecce Shnak followers will instantly get what the band is doing with this unexpected move. Once again, the quintet works its magic and moves forward, serving both art and vision above all else. Naturally, we’re now eagerly awaiting their upcoming full-length album, “Dandy Variances”, scheduled for release in 2026. Ecce Shnak are among the most high-quality and talented bands in today’s avant-garde scene — listen to “Katy’s Wart” and you’ll quickly realize just how limiting the alt and indie labels really are when it comes to this band.
