Butcher Babies have unveiled their powerful new single, “Blame It On The Wind”, produced by Howard Benson. The track serves as the fourth preview of the band’s upcoming album, which is set to be released through Judge & Jury Records.
The song represents an important chapter in an album that serves as a deeply personal reflection on vocalist Heidi Shepherd’s journey through life. Looking back on the experiences, relationships, heartbreaks, and valuable lessons that have defined the past 25 years, the record is built on themes of self-discovery and personal growth. It pays tribute to the path she has traveled while celebrating the resilience, wisdom, and confidence she has gained along the way.
“Blame It On The Wind” is a captivating hard rock anthem inspired by a chance late-night encounter in Los Angeles. Built around the story of a spontaneous one-night connection set against a backdrop of neon lights and pounding music, the song captures the thrill of an experience too memorable to leave behind. Musically, it evolves from a smoldering, atmospheric beginning into a powerful, high-octane drive that blends the intensity of In This Moment with the technical edge of Jinjer. Driven by the commanding vocals of Heidi Shepherd, the track explores the emotional tension between temptation, longing, and accountability.
Shepherd shares: “There are certain nights, certain moments, and certain connections you never fully shake. ‘Blame It On The Wind’ came from one of those nights that should have disappeared in the morning. In 2012, what started as a one-night stand morphed into a connection that would haunt me for years. A moment that we both knew was off limits; however, the forbidden fruit continually pulled us back into that first night. I remember it so vividly; his scent, the way he said my name, his bootcut jeans, the balcony in his Santa Monica loft, and that very first touch. This song is about a lust you can’t leave, a denial of accountability, and a laundry list of excuses for following the white rabbit. I think sometimes we blame the setting for the choices we make because it’s easier than admitting someone genuinely got under our skin. That’s what this song is about for me.”
After completing an extensive tour across the United States and Europe, Butcher Babies are set to continue their global live campaign with a series of performances in Japan this June.
