Black metal worldwide favourites Behemoth release their much-anticipated new creation titled “The Shit Ov God” and take the media and fans by storm. Behemoth, a huge (and rightfully so) name in the industry that has showed time and time again that they continue to be innovative as well as stick to their beautifully grotesque roots. I’ve personally been a fan of their work from their earlier years of “Zos Kia Cultus” and watched their ever-growing evolution, so needless to say, I was quite excited when I saw their new creation be unleashed. We begin with “The Shadow Elite” a five-minute gorgeous blood-soaked carnage of a track, with thematic lyrics straight out of a manifesto for the outcasts, war and rebellion-like themes and imagery, it’s a ferocious beginning to this new opus. “Sowing Salt” follows and the chaos unravels, slow yet torturously unrelenting, a war cry like sound follows and it’s absolutely gorgeous and absolutely “Behemoth”. Nergal’s vocals all throughout are chilling, beautifully executed and dripping with blood and edge. Self-titled “The Shit Ov God” is next and I must say it is one of my personal favourites from the album. The use of biblical inversions and rebellion is truly executed with class. Overall, Behemoth’s thirteenth album is, in my opinion, an extremely strong addition to their years of discography and an incredibly smart work.
