WITHERING SCORN — the band formed by former MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover and his brother, ex-MEGADETH guitarist Glen Drover, together with ex-FATES WARNING bassist Joe DiBiase and German vocalist Henning Basse (FIREWIND, METALIUM, MAYAN) — is currently in the mixing stages of its second album, “Sanctum Of The Depraved”. The record will serve as the successor to the group’s debut, Prophets Of Demise, released in July 2023 through Frontiers Music Srl.
On Thursday (August 14), WITHERING SCORN shared the following message via social media: “Hello WITHERING SCORN fans. It’s been a while, but we’ve been busy navigating our way through the process of releasing our new album ‘Sanctum Of The Depraved’, which is being mixed as we speak.
“As you know, being in this industry is really a struggle for bands right now. We’ve come to the conclusion that the best way to get this new album out is release it independently That being said , we’re in the unenviable position of having to ask for donations to accomplish this. We hate it. But we feel really good about the new record and we want you guys to hear it.
“Thank you all in advance because we can’t do this without your help.”
“Sanctum Of The Depraved” will be released independently in vinyl, CD, and digital formats. To support the production, artwork, and promotion, WITHERING SCORN has launched a GoFundMe campaign.
The band was founded in 2020 by brothers Glen and Shawn Drover, who previously performed together in MEGADETH and earlier in EIDOLON. For this new project, they reunited and brought in longtime FATES WARNING bassist Joe DiBiase — who spent 14 years with the band across several albums and tours — along with vocalist Henning Basse.
