It’s a track that perfectly distills the band’s identity: a bold, unique fusion of alternative rock, darkwave, post-punk, industrial drive and shoegaze atmosphere. The song opens with an undercurrent of brooding bass, rhythmic drums and shimmering guitar textures that immediately set a cinematic, evocative tone. Gaetano Maleki’s guitar work is full of movement—lush delays and chorus effects creating a soundscape that feels nostalgic and futuristic at the same time. Underneath, Dan Milligan’s drumming is precise and dynamic, pushing the track forward with power. At the heart of “Diamonds to Rust” is Jennifer Wilde’s vocal performance. She moves effortlessly between a hushed, intimate croon and soaring, defiant peaks, capturing both vulnerability and strength. Her voice cuts through the dense instrumentation like light through storm clouds, carrying lyrics that resonate with themes of transformation, survival and beauty forged from hardship. She is the protagonist here! What makes the song so effective is its dark and dreamy feeling. The layered production creates tidal waves of sound, while the chorus lands with cathartic force. It feels both rooted in the 90s alternative tradition (echoes of Cocteau Twins, Failure and early Deftones) and undeniably relevant today. “Diamonds to Rust” is a statement of intent.
