“Pouvoir Moteur” is a kraut rock voyage by Strange Fruit. The German electronic rock sound of the 70s is revisited in this single from the “Drips” EP of the Jakarta based band. Imagine the works of Neu, Can, Faust and Cluster, combined with shoegaze and space/psychedelic atmospheres and you get the cosmic music of Strange Fruit, who slowly pull the listeners into their own universe. There is a beautiful balance between the mechanical and the emotional here. Strange Fruit avoid making the track simply a cold electronic experiment; instead, they fill it with emotion, creating a sound that feels both futuristic and human. What makes “Pouvoir Moteur” especially interesting is the way the band builds its atmosphere without rushing. Every element has its own place, from the hypnotic rhythms to the dreamy melodies floating above them. The result is immersive and cinematic, inviting the listener to get lost in its waves of sound. Since their early days exploring noise pop, shoegaze and electronica, Strange Fruit have clearly developed a more focused identity, and this track is a strong example of their evolution. They manage to bring together influences from different worlds while creating something that feels completely personal. “Pouvoir Moteur” is an otherworldly experience.
