Gazarte, in the center of Gazi, Athens, is one of the city’s most stylish cultural and music venues, known for hosting artists across all genres. On this night, it welcomed one of Sweden’s hottest modern rock sensations, Smash Into Pieces. With their international star rapidly ascending, anticipation was high, and we made sure to arrive early to secure a spot right at the front — and to catch the Greek openers, Oceandvst, who would set the stage for the evening.

Scheduled for an 8:30 pm start, Oceandvst hit the stage right on time. For about forty minutes, they poured heart and energy into their set, firing out tracks with passion and precision. Their blend of modern and alternative heavy rock impressed the crowd, showcasing big riffs, soaring solos and atmospheric melodies. The only downside was the low placement of vocalist Chrysa’s voice in the sound mix, which at times made it difficult to fully appreciate her performance. Still, the band left a strong impression, proving themselves a name to watch on the Greek rock scene. Their cover of “Going Under” (Evanescence) was fine.

At 9:30 sharp, the lights dimmed, lasers cut through the air and Smash Into Pieces stormed onto the stage to rapturous applause. What followed was an explosive alt-rock onslaught that never let up. Their massive hit “Six Feet Under” was an undeniable highlight, but only one among many, as the band delivered a set packed with fan favorites. Their energy was relentless, their sound razor-sharp and their stage presence utterly captivating. Although Gazarte’s ground floor wasn’t completely packed, those in attendance were all in, singing every lyric back at the band and matching their intensity with equal enthusiasm. The laser show and the masked drummer added extra layers of spectacle, turning the band’s performance into a full-scale production. For approximately 70 minutes, Smash Into Pieces gave Athens a performance brimming with joy, power, and passion. The encore sent fans into overdrive, ensuring no one left unsatisfied.

After a night like this, there’s not a single doubt: Smash Into Pieces are among Europe’s most exciting rock bands. With their energy, songs and dedication, they have everything it takes to break even bigger on the global stage. Don’t be surprised if their next single ignites worldwide — because they are clearly destined for much greater things.
