SLASH MEETS MICHAEL SCHENKER ON STAGE

by MythofRock

Slash from GUNS N’ ROSES made a surprise appearance earlier today at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany, joining the legendary Michael Schenker on stage for a powerful rendition of the UFO classic “Mother Mary”. Fan-filmed footage of the performance is available below.

This isn’t Slash’s first time collaborating on the track—he also played on the studio version of “Mother Mary”, featured on Schenker’s My Years With UFO album, which he co-produced with Michael Voss. Released last September through earMUSIC, the album commemorates the 50th anniversary of Schenker’s influential time with UFO, covering the years 1972 to 1978. Schenker, dubbed the “German Wunderkind,” joined UFO at just 17 and quickly became a key creative force, contributing to fan favorites like “Doctor Doctor”, “Rock Bottom” and “Only You Can Rock Me”.

The album’s first single, “Mother Mary”, showcases the fiery guitar interplay between Schenker and Slash, paired with former SKID ROW frontman Erik Grönwall’s powerful vocal performance.
