Robin Ross & The Melodynes offer us their new single, “All I Want (Is A Lover)”, delivering a solid dose of The Mamas & The Papas, with touches of Eagles, America, The Kinks and Tom Petty. A true flower power pop showcase, “All I Want (Is A Lover)” is a romantic acoustic song, like a love postcard—hazy, worn and yellowed by time—that somehow found its way into our hands while digging through some old photo albums in the attic. This isn’t just retro for the sake of it—it feels genuine. There’s a looseness here, like the song just happened instead of being overworked in a studio. You can almost picture Ross catching that chord progression and letting the melody spill out in real time. From the onset, the track floats on jangly acoustics, breezy rhythms and that warm, almost honey-dipped vocal from JoEllen Gaetani. The production keeps things nice and airy—nothing too polished, nothing too raw. Just enough space for every instrument to breathe. It’s the kind of track that sneaks up on you. First listen, you’re nodding along. Second listen, you stomp your feet. Third listen, it’s stuck in your head. Overall, Robin Ross & The Melodynes gift us a feel-good slow-burner with real heart.
