A new exhibition celebrating MOTÖRHEAD and the legendary Lemmy will open its doors on Friday, October 2, 2026, at The Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada.
MOTÖRHEAD were a legendary force in both rock and heavy metal, with the iconic Lemmy Kilmister at the helm. Their uncompromising sound, raw energy and rebellious attitude earned them a fiercely loyal following that spanned generations and reached every corner of the globe. Although MOTÖRHEAD played a crucial role in shaping the sound and spirit of heavy metal, the band’s roots were equally intertwined with punk rock. Lemmy’s connection to the scene ran deep, having even played bass with THE DAMNED while remaining a prominent figure in the British punk movement. With their blistering speed and relentless intensity, MOTÖRHEAD went on to influence countless punk bands of the following generation, including PENNYWISE, RANCID and LAGWAGON, among many others.
Lemmy wielded his Rickenbacker bass through towering Marshall stacks to forge MOTÖRHEAD’s unmistakable wall of sound. The sheer volume and ferocity of their performances became legendary, with countless fans still hailing MOTÖRHEAD as the loudest band they had ever witnessed—a band whose music wasn’t simply heard, but physically felt.
The exhibition will showcase a selection of personal items from Lemmy’s collection, including rare photographs and handwritten lyrics. One of its most exciting features will give museum visitors the chance to actually play Lemmy’s bass through the very same amplifier stack he used.
Rather than simply viewing the legendary equipment behind the glass, guests will be able to plug in, pick up the bass and experience firsthand the gear that helped shape MOTÖRHEAD’s iconic sound. It’s a unique opportunity to engage with the band’s history in a truly direct and personal way.
MOTÖRHEAD albums will also be available at Vinyl Threat, the museum’s record store, while the gift shop will offer an exclusive selection of MOTÖRHEAD merchandise.
