Yesterday we witnessed the heavy metal concert of the year by the beloved Metallica, and today we are still absolutely thrilled! Metallica prepared an impressive two-hour live show for us, featuring selections from some of the American metal giants’ greatest and most historic songs.
However, there was also a small surprise: Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo played at their doodle “Zorba’s Dance” from “Zorba the Greek” (by Mikis Theodorakis) on guitar and bass respectively, along with part of “De Choras Pouthena” by Greek rock band Trypes (Trujillo also sang the refrain!).
The crowd at Olympic Athletic Center of Athens went absolutely wild, with Greek Metallica fans erupting in excitement, cheering and applauding enthusiastically. It was a small gift from the two members of the American group, who had come specially prepared for this live performance on Athenian soil.
