LAZYWALL: “NOTHING ELSE MATTERS” AS ARABIC-ROCK FUSION!

by MythofRock

Moroccan rock trio LAZYWALL has unveiled a powerful new take on METALLICA‘s timeless classic “Nothing Else Matters”, released exclusively as a video.

Renowned for blending Arabic music with alternative rock, LAZYWALL chose this iconic song not just out of deep respect for the original, but also for its universal emotional impact.

LAZYWALL says: “We chose to cover ‘Nothing Else Matters’ not just because we love it, but because it speaks to everyone. It’s more than a metal anthem; it’s a timeless piece that transcends genre and language. We didn’t want to simply cover it. We wanted to honor its legacy by transforming it, fusing Western rock with the soul of Arabic and North African musical traditions”.

In LAZYWALL’s rendition, the legendary guitar intro is transformed through the rich, resonant sound of the oud, intertwined with the deep pulse of the Guembri and the rhythms of the Bendir, all shaped by traditional maqams (Arabic scales). The verses, steeped in this distinctive instrumentation, rise into a soaring, rock-charged chorus — carried entirely by Arabic lyrics.

The outcome is far beyond a simple cover — it’s a cultural bridge, an homage to METALLICA, and a unique offering for Arabic-speaking listeners, allowing them to hear their own language woven into one of rock’s most legendary melodies.

Founded in Reading, England by Moroccan brothers Nao, Youssef, and Monz, LAZYWALL creates a unique oriental alt-rock fusion — mixing Arabic instruments, traditional rhythms, and the raw force of alternative rock. Their songs confront issues like climate change, social injustice, integration, and corruption, delivered with a passion that cuts across language boundaries.
