by MythofRock

JOURNEY drummer Deen Castronovo reportedly suffered a medical emergency during the band’s concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Thursday night (October 8). The band halted the performance after just two songs, with keyboardist Jonathan Cain addressing the audience after the other members had left the stage.

“We’re gong to see what happens as this progresses,” Cain said. “It’s an unfortunate situation. We’re very sorry. We’re hoping it’s only a delay, but please — I’m sorry. Don’t worry. Have your prayers ready. Have your prayers ready for Deen Castronovo, everybody. Thank you.”

Approximately 10 minutes later, JOURNEY guitarist Neal Schon returned to the stage and informed the audience that Castronovo had been taken to the hospital. The concert subsequently resumed, with Castronovo’s drum technician, Steve Toomey, stepping in behind the drum kit.

“Give a big hand for Steve Toomey,” Schon said. “We love you all. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience.”

Later in the night, Schon told the crowd at at BOK Center: “This concert is for Deen. I think he’s going to be fine”.

JOURNEY launched its farewell tour, dubbed the “Final Frontier” tour, on February 28 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The current leg began on September 12 in Los Angeles and is scheduled to wrap up on November 28 in San Francisco.
