ILLUSIVE MIRRORS, MOIRA’S TOUCH, STILL DUSK – ARCHITEKTONIKI, ATHENS, GREECE – 13/04/2025

by MythofRock

Illusive Mirrors, coming from Athens, Greece, and led by singer Dimitra Koenka, are slowly building a good name in the Greek rock/metal scene. The songs of their self-titled debut EP still linger in my mind, especially “Nothing More To Say” and “Save A Bullet”, so I try to catch the band whenever they play live. This time, the meeting was set for the 13th of April, 2025, again at Architektoniki (Gazi). The bands who would play before Illusive Mirrors were Still Dusk and Moira’s Touch, making a nice, very interesting package for all friends of hard rock and heavy metal. Always supporting the rock/hard rock/metal scene, Myth of Rock was there and reports!

Still Dusk was the band selected to open for this loud and melodic evening. This young and aspiring group plays in an alternative hard rock/metal style, which focuses on melodies and dynamics, is based on guitar riffs and the energetic vocal delivery by Ina Damianidou, and attacks full-throttle! They took us by storm with their passion and their sophisticated compositions, which sound so good in concert. Still Dusk didn’t hesitate to release all their adrenaline, electrify the air and shake Architektoniki. Their alternaitve hard rock/metal was the spark that ignited the fans who had already come to the beautiful venue. Although it was my first time seeing and hearing Still Dusk, I was super-satisfied with their urge, their finesse and their personal style — these things are rare these days, so when we see them combined, we should be very excited but also protective! Before moving on to the second band, I would like to congratulate Ina for her explosive performance!

And the second band was Moira’s Touch, a heavy/power metal outfit with female vocals and lyrics by poet Michael Makk Giannopoulos. I hadn’t listened to any of their songs, so I didn’t know what to expect from their live appearance. The audience, warmed up by Still Dusk, applauded when Moira’s Touch members took their place on stage, especially when singer Joan Kollia stood next to her bandmates. Moira’s Touch played with full force their own material, which sounded very intriguing, yet they faced some minor sound problems with the guitar. But nothing could bring the band down, as their heavy/power metal onslaught was unstoppable and relentless! Dimitris Koskinas was excellent on guitar — his crushing riffs and technical solos shocked the fans, who headbanged to songs like “Naysayers” and “Malevolent”. Moira’s Touch were fantastic, so impressive and majestic, and frontwoman Joan combined her beautiful singing with a mysterious/enchanting stage presence. I think that this band has all the qualifications to do something really nice in the future — their live shows are already an immersive experience!

Finally, the time we were all waiting for came. Dimitra Koenka, Dimitris Floros, Yiannis Zavradinos and Dimitris Kofinas ran to the stage for their headlining show, spreading enthusiasm to the fans who stood in the first rows. I was so happy to be seeing Illusive Mirrors live again — I would say that every time I catch them live, I discover different things about this band! This time I understood that “Moonlight Sinners” is a great heavy metal track, that Yiannis Zavradinos is the silent force of the band and that Dimitris Koskinas and Dimitris Floros have progressed a lot in their technique! Of course, Dimitra Koenka was excellent as always in her performance, singing with power and melody, having the air and style of a Rock Queen! I enjoyed their entire set, which consisted of the EP tracks, many unreleased songs, and a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall”. Their sound was clear and intense, and you could easily tell that they have practiced and rehearsed a lot. Another nice thing about Illusive Mirrors is their positive mood and mindset, which shines brightly during the live show. They feel good, they play well, and the listener picks up on this positive attitude! It is obvious that Illusive Mirrors have grown into a solid hard rock/melodic metal force, with great songs and a compelling performance on stage! And for sure, this is just the beginning! As you understand, everyone was singing along with Dimitra when the band played their undeniable hit, “Save A Bullet”, and when they ended their show, everyone was impressed, wanting more!

To sum up, Illusive Mirrors, Moira’s Touch and Still Dusk gave their everything to make sure we had fun — a really good time full of hot hard rock and metal. I am sure that everyone will agree with me – these three bands, all fronted by women, have the charisma to become big and successful. Sooner or later, these three bands will evolve into well-distinguished hard rock and metal acts!
