HOSTILIA – “THE CURSE OF KHAMUN” (2026, HAMMERHEART)

by MythofRock

Almost a year after the release of their debut album, “Face the Fire”, Hostilia return with their sophomore effort, “The Curse of Khamun”, continuing their sonic assault with old-school, old-fashioned thrash metal! Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, the band embraces the unique, passionate and relentless thrash sound of the ‘80s, drawing inspiration from the giants of that mythic era while carrying this golden tradition into our difficult, digital times. And Hostilia should be proud of what they are doing, because they deliver full-throttle, soulful thrash metal with conviction, attitude and character! This self-produced album pays tribute to the legacy of Metallica, Exodus, Slayer, Testament and many other legendary bands, while proving that even in 2026, there are still bands that need no frills, gimmicks or unnecessary experiments. All they need are their influences, genuine inspiration, a burning passion for the music and a clear vision that drives them straight into this furious thrash metal maelstrom! What should I mention first? The killer riffs that strike with the force of a sledgehammer? The galloping rhythms and fast-paced, neck-breaking tempos? The pure, cataclysmic aggression that runs through the album? Or the manic vocals that perfectly match the music’s unrelenting intensity? Everything works together to create a powerful thrash metal experience that feels authentic, hungry and full of life. There is no shortage of energy here, and more importantly, there is a genuine love for the genre behind every riff and every furious beat. I am genuinely excited about this fascinating album and firmly believe that Hostilia deserve to have their talent and hard work widely recognized. “The Curse of Khamun” is an outstanding thrash metal release that should put the band’s name on the radar of metalheads everywhere. These guys understand what makes classic thrash metal so exciting, and they deliver it with the passion, aggression and youthful energy that the genre needs. Gotta love this Gothenburg thrash!
