Hellgrimm are a power trio from San Antonio, Texas, and “Resurrection” marks their sixth studio album. Their sound sits firmly in heavy rock, but it’s enriched with strong doses of rock ’n’ roll, punk rock, heavy metal and occult rock. Lyrically, they dive deep into themes of evil, death and demons, shaping a dark, immersive, mysterious atmosphere. The band delivers solid riffs, plenty of catchy refrains, and a mystifying, gloomy vibe that runs through the entire record. They may not be reinventing the genre, but they absolutely know how to grab your attention and hold it. What really stands out is the nasty combination of heavy, playful guitar work and seductive female vocals, which adds a distinctive edge to their sound. From the very first note, Hellgrimm pull you into a hellish ride. The songs feel like a thrilling roller coaster—intense, energetic, and strangely addictive, with a devilish groove that almost demands movement. There’s confidence here, too; on their sixth full-length release, the band sounds sharper, more focused, and ready to strike. It feels like the right moment for Hellgrimm to reach a wider audience. “Resurrection” is an album that overwhelms the senses, whether you’re a die-hard heavy rock fan or not. It’s relentless, reckless, and at times genuinely eerie—an album with bite, attitude, and absolutely no filler. And it ends with a great cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Sympathy for the Devil”! They truly made it their own!
