Swedish metallers EVERGREY have split with longtime guitarist Henrik Danhage.
Yesteday, Tuesday, April 7, the band released the following message via social media: “EVERGREY and Henrik have mutually decided to part ways after working together on and off for 21 years. It is now time for a new chapter for both parties. We wish each other all the best for the future and look forward to new music from both EVERGREY and Henrik. Stay tuned”.
Danhage had already stepped away from touring duties with EVERGREY last fall, and for the band’s fall 2025 run alongside KATATONIA, Stephen Platt of SCAR SYMMETRY filled in.
Back in 2001, Danhage received a call from Tom S. Englund, who was searching for a new guitarist and believed Danhage was the perfect fit for Evergrey.
His debut with the band came on 2001’s “In Search Of Truth”, widely considered one of the finest progressive metal releases ever, thanks in no small part to his distinctive riffing style and rhythmic approach.
Although he stepped away from the band in 2008 to focus on other projects, Danhage returned in 2014 and went on to play a key role in a string of acclaimed releases, from “Hymns For The Broken” through to 2022’s “A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Treatment)”.
