DRAGONFORCE are entering a new chapter with the announcement of their tenth studio album, and their first self-titled record. Set to arrive on March 19, 2027 via Napalm Records, “Dragonforce” sees the world’s fastest band pushing forward without slowing down, opening the door to a new era for the extreme power metal pioneers.
Produced by Jens Bogren and recorded across the U.S., U.K., Canada and Sweden, the album brings together longtime members Herman Li, Sam Totman, Gee Anzalone and Alicia Vigil, alongside new vocalist and frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz, vocalist Alessio Garavello and new addition Billy Wilkins. Together, the lineup takes DRAGONFORCE’s signature sound into new territory while continuing to build on the elements that have made the band a major force in metal for almost three decades.
“Dragonforce” also looks back to the band’s formative years, promising the high energy, breakneck speed, massive melodies and triumphant hooks that fans have come to expect. At the same time, DRAGONFORCE are exploring new sides of their musicianship and songwriting, delivering their trademark sound in ways they have never attempted before.
The result is set to be another bold step forward for one of extreme power metal’s most distinctive and enduring bands.
The “Dragonforce” era officially kicks off with the release of the new single “Hunger Of The Beast”, accompanied by a high-energy, hard-hitting live performance video. Written specifically to showcase the contrasting strengths and powerful vocal ranges of Alissa White-Gluz and Alessio Garavello, the track offers the first preview of the upcoming album. With its explosive energy, relentless drive and youthful, uninhibited attitude, “Hunger Of The Beast” recalls the spirit of DRAGONFORCE classics such as “Through The Fire And Flames”, while introducing a fresh chapter for the band.
Lead guitarist Herman Li says: “Every time we begin making another album, we just think, ‘Wow — I can’t believe we’re still doing what we love after all these years.’ The approach of the tenth album is as important as the first one, or any of the albums, because the way we look at music is we’re making a piece of art that’s going to be frozen in time. Alissa White-Gluz adds: “I have loved the entire process of making music with DRAGONFORCE. Alongside their new music arriving this fall, DRAGONFORCE are also preparing to embark on their biggest North American tour in more than 20 years. The trek will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their landmark 2006 album “Inhuman Rampage”, the record that gave the world the platinum-selling global hit “Through The Fire And Flames” and spent 23 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200.
Alissa White-Gluz will be joined on vocals both on the new album and on stage by Alessio Garavello, a longtime friend and collaborator of DRAGONFORCE who has been connected with the band for 25 years. Garavello takes over male vocal duties from former lead singer Marc Hudson, who is temporarily stepping away from DRAGONFORCE-related musical activities while dealing with an ongoing tinnitus issue.
