Dotsun Moon, the solo project of Richard Flierl, is poised to release “Tiger”, its third album, and “Never Had a Heart” comes as the first single. This single is a stunning track, crafted with love, emotion, and passion by a sensitive artist who releases music from the heart, for the heart. The era of early post-punk and new wave comes to mind, and at the same time, several nods to bands like M83 and New Order are made. “Never Had a Heart” is a sonic and intellectual journey to past decades of indie music—a wonderful ride to periods of true romanticism and pure, fresh inspiration. Its multiple layers weave a textured piece of music that is both retro and contemporary. Dotsun Moon serves us a synth-laced song that has two other protagonist elements: the fragile guitar harmonies and the sensitive, dreamy vocals. Every instrument, every sung lyric, comes from Richard Flierl, who knows how to compose heartfelt music—sweet music that seduces and mesmerizes. “Never Had a Heart” is the reason I needed to explore the musical realm of Dotsun Moon, the reason why I expect so much from his new album. I don’t know if you dig indie music, but I will surely recommend this fine piece of music—music of high quality, music for true art lovers. I am not into indie music that much, but “Never Had a Heart” is a true sonic gem of rare beauty. We are closing in on the dimension of Dotsun Moon—get ready for something really special!
