Hard rock icons Deep Purple will release their new studio album, “Splat!”, on July 3 through earMUSIC.
Having sold more than 120 million albums since their formation in 1968, Deep Purple have firmly cemented their status as one of rock music’s most influential bands. Yet instead of resting on their legacy, they continue to push forward, fueled by the same passion and creative drive that shaped their earliest recordings.
Ian Gillan says: “Where we are now with this incarnation of DEEP PURPLE feels very much like a very ‘now’ version of DEEP PURPLE as it was in the ’70s.”
Once again, Deep Purple have joined forces with acclaimed producer Bob Ezrin (Kiss, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, Alice Cooper). Together, they have created an album that channels the unmistakable sound, energy, and attitude that have always made Deep Purple stand out from the crowd.
“Splat!” stands as the heaviest album Deep Purple have delivered in years, capturing the band performing together live in the studio — the same organic approach that has defined their recording process throughout their career.
Gillan comments: “I have to say, now we are very much back in with material that is compatible with ‘Highway Star’, ‘Smoke On The Water’, ‘Lazy’ — the dynamics, the balance, and the fun of the music we made from ’69 to ’73.”
At the core of “Splat!” lies a concept envisioned by Ian Gillan. Rather than portraying the end as pure destruction, the album approaches it as a form of transformation, exploring humanity’s conclusion not through a traditional apocalyptic lens, but as a passage beyond physical existence into something entirely new.
The full concept behind Splat! will continue to unfold in the weeks leading up to its release on July 3.
To mark the release of “Splat!”, Deep Purple will carry on with an extensive 2026 touring run, performing no fewer than 86 shows across 28 countries and three continents.
New music from Splat! will be unveiled soon, as Deep Purple invite fans to join them on the road toward the album’s release in the coming weeks.
Gillan sums it up: “DEEP PURPLE is in a great place right now.”
