Crossroads are a rock band from Thessaloniki, and they have just released their debut album entitled “Thysies” (Sacrifices). Sacrifices are an inseparable part of every pursuit and effort, testing our determination and will to chase our goals. In the same way, this album is the result of the band members’ dedication and commitment to what they love to do: creating and playing music.
The album consists of 12 songs, written at different times, forming a diverse musical universe that expresses how the members of the band experience an era full of changes, contrasts, and contradictions. At the same time, it provides a clear picture of the band’s musical roots, as well as the style that defines them. Electricity, melody, and carefully crafted lyrics are just a few of its main ingredients.
As for the coin featured on the album cover, it carries multiple meanings. The crossroads, as a place, has been used by many cultures and religions. In music mythology, the figure of the Demon of the Crossroads prevailed, a being who could grant you fame and artistic skill, provided that you paid the proper price. In Greek mythology, the Goddess of the Crossroads was Hecate, the three-formed goddess, to whom sacrifices were also offered. The three forms of Hecate coincided with the number of band members who wrote the album. And in this way, the band’s name, the album title, and the cover artwork all came together harmoniously.
