Chris Harms, renowned for his musical versatility and best known as the frontman of German chart-toppers LORD OF THE LOST, continues his solo journey with “Aporia”, set for release on January 22, 2027, via Napalm Records. The release date also coincides with Harms’ birthday, offering an early indication of just how personal this new full-length album is set to be.
With his solo debut, “1980″, released in February 2025 and reaching the Top 10 of the official German album charts, Hamburg-based musician, producer and songwriter Chris Harms finally fulfilled a long-held dream: creating an entire album using only 1980s equipment. “Aporia” takes that foundation further, delving into modern electronics, eclectic soundscapes and synth-driven territories that move beyond the sonic identity of his main band.
Alongside the announcement, Harms has released “Find What You Love And Let It Kill You”, a dark and atmospheric track that explores the price of true passion — a powerful flame that can ultimately consume the person who embraces it. The song is now available on all major streaming platforms.
“Aporia” will be released in a range of physical formats, including a limited-edition box set that comes with a special bonus CD housed in a digisleeve.
“Aporia” is the first album Harms has produced in his new rooms at Boogie Park Studios in Hamburg, following his departure from Chameleon Studios in spring 2026 after several years there. The record serves as a melting pot of emotions and feelings, an idea reflected in both its title and artwork.
The album’s title comes from the Ancient Greek word “aporia”, referring to an unresolvable problem or state of uncertainty. In philosophy and rhetoric, it describes a point at which reasoning reaches an apparent dead end, creating a deliberate sense of doubt and intellectual tension. The artwork, created by VDPictures, reinforces this concept with a Penrose Triangle, the famous optical illusion that appears to defy the laws of conventional geometry. In this way, “Aporia” captures the album’s underlying sense of paradox and mystery, suggesting a record that embraces ambiguity and invites listeners to question the limits of perception, much like the impossible object featured on its cover.
With “Aporia”, Chris Harms offers his most intimate and revealing work yet, embracing vulnerability and allowing listeners a deeper glimpse into his personal world. Combined with his distinctive musical vision and meticulous craftsmanship, this honesty turns the album into a kind of sonic diary and establishes it as one of the most meaningful releases of his artistic career.
