BURN KIT – “LOOKING THROUGH THE WINDOW AT YOU” (2025, SINGLE, SELF-RELEASED)

by MythofRock

Boston’s alt-rock newcomers Burn Kit return with “Looking Through The Window At You”, a track that dives deep into the tension between appearance and reality. Featured on a split 7″ with Chicago band Turquoise, this song fuses grunge grit with dreamy shoegaze textures, wrapped in post-punk moodiness and new wave sparkle. The band – Valentino Valpa (vocals), Joshua Sawhill and Frank Nordaby (guitars), Andrew Mattern (drums), and Christopher Belmonte (studio bass) – formed in 2024, quickly shaping a sound that feels raw yet atmospheric. On this track, they channel the 90s alternative heavy rock energy but add a modern twist, creating something both nostalgic and new. Lyrically, “Looking Through The Window At You” is a reflection on human distance. As Valpa explains, “It’s about the locked door in everyone’s mind – how no one can fully know another person”. That sense of isolation runs through the track, amplified by hazy, heavy guitar layers and pulsing, solid rock rhythms that shift between calm introspection and grunge-fueled surges. Musically, Burn Kit thrives on dynamics. The song swells and retreats like an emotional tide, with jagged riffs breaking through the foggy reverb. Valpa’s vocals balance vulnerability and defiance, giving weight to the song’s existential edge.  It’s a powerful new entry from a band that understands how to mix heaviness with atmosphere. Burn Kit’s “Looking Through The Window At You” feels like looking through the window – unsettling, beautiful and impossible to turn away from. Are you going to look through the window? I am sure you will!
