BEAUTY IN CHAOS: BACK WITH NEW SINGLE, “KISS ME (GOODBYE)”

by MythofRock

LA-based collective Beauty In Chaos is back with the new single ‘Kiss Me (Goodbye)’ and stunning performance video, filmed and directed by Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films. This track features Leeds-born Wales-raised artist extraordinaire Julian Shah-Tayler on vocals, as well as Pete Parada (Face To Face, The Offspring) on drums.

With Grammy nominated BIC cohort Michael Rozon in the producer’s chair, “Kiss Me’ packs a bit more glam and post-rock power than the collective’s latest ‘Behind The Veil’ album, yet BIC curator Michael Ciravolo’s trademark goth-gaze textures dance in and around the song’s infectious melody and chord structure.

“Julian had done a handful wonderful re-envisions for us over the last two albums, which lead me to listening to his fantastic solo work.  I felt he had an entirely unique voice and captivation stage presence, so I jumped at the chance to work with him on a song!” says BIC curator Michael Ciravolo.

“Vicente has done so many of our videos, it is almost second-nature for us when filming.  He is very aware of how adamant I am that each video is different from its predecessor. I was drawn to this video location, and just wanted to go in and have fun in the multiple ‘locations’ we had at our disposable there.  And, of course in true BIC artistry, this is way different than the almost mini-movie script I handed Vicente for our latest single ‘Bloodletting’.  It was Julian’s idea to weave in an ever so slight story line at the end.”

Julian Shah-Tayler, known for his electro rock new wave ‘intellipop’, has pursued a luminous path involving collaboration, performance, writing and production for the likes of David J (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets), music industry icon Alan McGee, Joaquin Phoenix and Antony Langdon (Spacehog), Siobhan Fahey (Bananarama, Shakespears Sister) and legendary producer Robert Margouleff (Stevie Wonder, Devo).

Having considerable success in TV and film (including for Disney’s ‘Maleficent’), he received a Golden Trailer award for his work with Lana Del Ray on the movie’s trailer and has also had his music performed at the Oscars. When he is not writing and recording original material or producing other artists, Julian Shah-Tayler is selling out venues with his Depeche Mode tribute band Strangelove.

“I’m honoured to collaborate with Michael on this excellent song. I loved the track from first listen and found it meshed perfectly with my aesthetic. Romantic and slightly dark, without straying too far into the irretrievable goth realm,” says Julian Shah-Tayler.

“We both decided we wanted it to be more than just a band-performance video.  Since the lyrics are about the dissolution of a relationship, it felt appropriate to me to bring in the exquisite Eva Strangelove – burlesque dancer and my lissome love – to play the role of my temptress and heart wrecker in an improvised sci-fi Lynchian narrative of loss and rejection.”

‘Kiss Me (Goodbye)’ is out on May 3 via 33.3 Music Collective, available everywhere digitally, including Bandcamp. More music from Beauty In Chaos can be found at www.beautyinchaosmusic.com/music-store
