Following the overwhelming response to their first single in over two years, “Silent Divide”, acclaimed rockers ALTER BRIDGE return with another powerful track from their upcoming eighth studio album, “Alter Bridge”. The new single, “What Lies Within”, is now available on all digital platforms, showcasing the chemistry of the band’s renowned lineup — Myles Kennedy (vocals, guitars), Mark Tremonti (guitars, vocals), Brian Marshall (bass), and Scott Phillips (drums).
The song bursts open with a driving riff from Kennedy and Tremonti, quickly locking into the tight, rhythmic groove laid down by Marshall and Phillips. Lyrically, it explores the darker corners of human nature, with Kennedy warning, “What lies within, beneath the skin, something so dark and foreboding”. The track is accompanied by an animated video directed by J.T. Ibanez, available to watch below.
After more than two decades together, ALTER BRIDGE continues to prove they’re as inspired and relentless as ever. Known for their commanding riffs, soaring vocal melodies, and signature dual-guitar attack, the band has earned widespread critical and fan acclaim across the globe — and they’re poised to build on that legacy with the release of their self-titled new album next year via Napalm Records.
“Alter Bridge” features 12 brand new songs, packed with some of the band’s most defining moments to date. Tracks like “Rue The Day”, “Disregarded” and “Scales Are Falling” stand proudly alongside the group’s classic material. On “Trust In Me”, Myles and Mark share vocal duties — Myles leading the verses and Tremonti powering the chorus — while “Tested And Able” flips the formula, with Tremonti taking the verses and Myles soaring over one of the heaviest intros in the band’s history. “Hang By A Thread” feels destined to become a live favorite, echoing the spirit of some of their most beloved songs. Closing the album is “Slave To Master”, an epic, emotionally charged finale — and the longest track ALTER BRIDGE has ever recorded — capturing the band at their most ambitious and dynamic.
“Alter Bridge” once again sees the band teaming up with their longtime producer and trusted collaborator Michael “Elvis” Baskette. The album was recorded over the course of two months this past spring, split between the legendary 5150 Studios in California and Elvis’s own studio in Florida.
